Nonki, The Modern Style Japanese Restaurant

9:51:00 PM

I have seen the restaurant by the A.S Fortuna street a lot of times and I have been hesitant to go there until it opened another restaurant in JCentre Mall.
When seeing the restaurant, it looks expensive from the outside and so private just like Wakamatsu, but a more of isolated kind of restaurant. The impression it gave me was, simply elegant and the prices may be out of my budget.
The facade.
The side of the restaurant that is seen when inside the mall.
The black concept of the restaurant makes it look elegant, private, comfortable, and gives this solitude feeling.
Calvin and I went inside and guess what!
It was amazing!
The staffs greeted us warmly and they are separated with their uniform colors, as we were asked for how many pax is the table, we were offered a seat just in front of the showing chef!

While he was cooking for the order made by the customers beside me, we received menus to choose our orders.
Teppanyaki orders are cooked fresh and yes, that guy cooks the Teppanyaki in our table.

Here are some snapshots of the menu.

The prices were reasonable. Also, the place mats were nice. I like the red in the black.

So, we ordered:
Kani salad! Mio paborito!
Uni, Tuna, Salmon sashimi with fresh sea grapes or green caviar. Seafood is such a beast, making me so want more! And of course, Californian Maki
Calvin: And of course we had to order something from the Teppanyaki. The delicious chicken and a side of fried calamari

The restaurant seems full but it looks spacious and it was not noisy at all.
The ambiance was really comforting. It looked so modern yet reminds the Japanese style. The place also gives the high class style with a reasonable price. I didn't expect it to be that affordable.
Here's their mango shake. Mango shake does taste so good and refreshing in a tropical country like the Republic of the Philippines.

Additional info:
The three characters are read as Nonki
のんき in Hiragana,  ノンキ in Katakana,  呑気 and in Kanji, they all means easygoing, carefree, optimistic, and may mean careless and reckless at the same time.
